Mission of the Rainey-McCullers School of the Arts English Department
The Department of English at Rainey-McCullers School of the Arts, empowers students to read the world around them and to write their own story. Through close reading, critical thinking, and careful analysis, our students engage with literary and informational texts in a process strengthening their role as global citizens.
Our English Faculty
April Brock, Department Chair
Mrs. Brock has been teaching English since 2008, taught in 2 states and multiple grade levels (6th-12th grades). In 2021, Mrs. Brock was the PAGE Sara Spano Runner Up for the Chattahoochee Valley. She especially enjoys teaching high school writing and seeing students grow in their writing, while gaining confidence. When not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their five children.
Ms. Tonya Hill
Ms. Hill is a veteran teacher with over twenty years of experience. She has taught in Muscogee County since 2010. Ms. Hill has a B.S.Ed. from the University of Georgia, M.Ed. from Clemson University, and Ed. S. from Auburn University. She has certifications in Reading, Gifted Education, Instructional Technology, and Advanced Placement.
Mrs. Anne “Barrie” Jarrett
Mrs. Jarrett has taught for a number of years in Muscogee County in both middle and high school. She earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Brenau University and her Master of Education from Columbus State University. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys hiking, catching live music, and reading just about anything that falls into her hands.
